廻由美子プロフィール

桐朋学園大学音楽学部ピアノ科を卒業の後渡米。インディアナ大学音楽学部でジョルジュ・シェベック、スティーヴン・コヴァセヴィッチ各氏に学び、最高位を得て卒業。これまでに、バロックから古典派・ロマン派・近現代に至る10数枚に及ぶCDをリリース。作品自体の持つ美しさと力を鋭く感知し、その色彩豊かなタッチによって表現された演奏は、圧倒的な輝きと存在感を放っており、「レコード芸術」誌上で「特選盤」に数多く選ばれるなど、いずれも高く評価されている。

ソロ・リサイタルはもとより室内楽、他ジャンルとのセッションなど活発な演奏活動を行い、ソリストとしても新日本フィルハーモニー、東京都交響楽団、名古屋フィルハーモニー交響楽団、オール・ジャパン・フィルハーモニーなどに招かれて共演。2000年には沼尻竜典指揮、東京都交響楽団と武満徹の「アーク」全曲を日本初演、絶賛を博す。

現在、桐朋学園大学音楽学部教授。月刊ぶらあぼに「メグリンのHappy Tune」を好評連載中。

YUMIKO MEGURI was born in Tokyo.
After graduating from Toho-Gakuen School of Music, she continued to study under Gyorgy Sebök and Stephen Kovacevich at Iadiana University and completed her study with the highest honors.

She has released various CDs
(Baroque, Classic, Romantic and Contemporary Music).
Especially she passionately plays modern music like Igor Stravinsky and Bela Bartok's pieces. Her intellectual interpretations and dramatic style of performance have acquired the overwhelming response.

Her solo recitals in Tokyo in 1989,91,93,97 were chosen as "Best 10 Concerts of the Year" and "Best 3 Hot Concerts" by the Ongaku-no-Tomo, a prestigious monthly music magazine in Japan. She invited by numerous orchestra, including Nagoya Philharmonic Orchestra Tokyo, Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra and All Japan phil Harmony as Takemitsu's work "Arc" with Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra.

She currently teaches in the Music Departmental, Toho-Gakuen School of Music. She also serves as the music director in "Instrumental Music and Drama", in that she tries to establish a new artistic expression by harmonizing music, words and drama. She is more than just a pianist. Her profound knowledge for the arts and fertile creativity is outstanding.
